How To Prepare For Your Service
Carpet & Tile Cleaning
MOVE FURNITURE - The technicians can work around your larger furniture. However, if you have smaller pieces of furniture that can easily be moved, including dining room chairs, children’s toys, floor lamps, ottomans, plants and end tables, put them in another area that will not be cleaned for now. You should safely remove any picture frames, china, collectibles or other breakable items before the carpet cleaners arrive. It’s also a good idea to lift up and secure things like bedspreads, dust ruffles or drapes to prevent them from getting in the way of a carpet cleaner’s tools.
VACUUM/SWEEP - Please vacuum your carpet or hard flooring thoroughly with a regular household vacuum cleaner, or sweep your floors, prior to the technician's arrival. This removes all the daily dust and buildup and ensures the cleaners do a thorough job. The cleaner will pre vacuum as well but this assists with the getting the most soil out and the best results.
PARKING SPOT - Your technician may use truck-mounted equipment and they’ll need to park their vehicles as close as possible to an entry door in order to run hoses for their cleaning equipment.
PETS - If you have pets like cats, dogs or birds, the loud noise from the machines can frighten them. Please move them to a secure area to keep them safe and in case they’re frightened and try to run away.
CHILDREN - Be sure to keep children safe while carpets are being cleaned (they can trip on hoses or slip on wet floors). If possible, you may want to schedule your floor cleaning when your children are not home.
PROBLEM AREAS - Point out any problem areas to your technician during the pre-cleaning inspection, particularly those regarding spots or stains. If possible, tell the technician what caused the stain or spot. The cleaning technician assigned to your job is trained in specialized spotting procedures and can evaluate spots and make appropriate recommendations.
Area Rug & Upholstery
To prepare for us to clean your area rug or upholstery, the CARPET & TILE CLEANING suggestions apply, in addition to the following:
AREA RUGS:
VACUUM - Vacuum your rug thoroughly with a regular household vacuum cleaner.
MOVE THE RUG - We cannot clean a rug that is laying on carpet, wood or laminate flooring. Please place the rug(s) on tile, a clean garage floor or outside on a clean cement patio. If you have any issues with this, please contact us immediately so we can speak to you about alternative arrangements before the technician arrives.
WE DO NOT CLEAN ORIENTAL RUGS - Because of the unique dyes and other intricacies, we suggest taking these rugs to a shop that specializes in them.
UPHOLSTERY (I.E. FURNITURE):
VACUUM - Vacuum your couch or ottoman thoroughly with a regular household vacuum cleaner.
REMOVE CLUTTER - Remove blankets, pillows and anything on the furniture that can get in the way. Clear the area of clutter on the floor that may be a tripping hazard
MOVE FURNITURE - For the technician to access all areas of the furniture, including the back side, move a few feet out from the wall. We highly recommend having the entire piece cleaned to avoid discoloration that may occur by only cleaning select areas of the piece.
PROBLEM AREAS - Point out any spots, stains or tears to the technician.
Biosweep odor removal/air purification
HOUSES OR APARTMENTS PLEASE FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING PROTOCOLS:
FURNACE/HVAC FILTER: make sure you remove old filters and have replacement filters ready for the technician to replace for you after the treatment.
CLEAN SURFACES - All surfaces should be relatively clean through normal, routine cleaning practices. There should be no visible dust or debris on the surface prior to treatment. We recommend using a damp microfiber cloth to wipe down surfaces that may appear dirty with dust or lint and doing a standard vacuum.
REMOVE PETS, PLANTS & PEOPLE FOR 12-24 HOURS - BIOSWEEP can only be safely operated in vacant or unoccupied spaces and cannot be operated when humans or pets are present. Please make arrangements for all pets, plants and people to be out of the space for the duration of the cleaning process. Same day treatments require the property to be empty for 12 hours and until confirmed safe for reentry by the technician. Full 24 hour treatments require the property to be empty for 24 hours, meaning no one can sleep in the space or reenter for any reason until confirmed safe for reentry by the technician.
CLEAR PATHS & WALLS - To ensure the best results, please declutter as much as possible on the floors so there is clear floor space for the BIOSWEEP machines. Each room must have a clear path into the middle of the room for technicians to work and 5ft by 5ft minimum space for machines. If walls are being washed, a three (3) foot minimum clearing is required off each wall. Please remove all art, wall hangings and mirrors from walls prior to the appointment.
VEHICLES PLEASE FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING PROTOCOLS:
CABIN AIR FILTER - Make sure you have a replacement cabin air filter ready for the technician to replace for you after the treatment. These are sold at most local auto part stores and there is a Napa auto parts store one block (walking distance) from the office.
If vehicles are excessively dirty there will be an additional charge because it interferes with the technician’s ability to treat the vehicle.
GAS - We recommend that the vehicle has over three quarters of a tank of gas because the vehicle will be on for part of the treatment.
TIME - The vehicle treatment averages about 3-5 hours depending on the severity of the odor. There is not a waiting room in the office but there are a few stores, restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance.
DROP OFF/PICK UP - You can drop off before our office opens by using the mail slot on the door to the office. If you are unable to get to the office before closing to get your keys we recommend leaving us the spare and keeping your main key so we can lock your key in the vehicle in an agreed upon place and you can pick up the vehicle whenever your schedule allows.
